Creative awakening with ceramist Eve Schneider

Réveil créatif avec la céramiste Eve Schneider

Last June, we visited Eve in her studio located in the hills above Nice to imagine and create a ceramic collection. From our meeting, three unique pieces with sensory shapes and textures, entirely handmade, were born. For Eve, everyday objects question our relationship with things, the value we place on them, and the reasons for their manufacture. Today, she shares with us her creative awakening and what gives her daily drive.

“I made pottery as a child, and I developed a very curious eye.”

As a child, I quickly developed a strong interest in artisanal skills. Then, as I grew older, I really wanted to try my hand at turning. In 2017, I was offered a turning internship. I completely immersed myself in it and thought, "Why not?" So I took it further with professional training, and the practice continued to appeal to me. Eve Schneider x Refyld

" I have always loved surrounding myself with objects.

For as long as I can remember, objects have always held a reassuring side for me; they accompany me in my daily life. Whether they are everyday objects or objects to contemplate, they each have their own little story. Today I feel very lucky to be able to imagine and make them… And to know that these objects continue their story in new places.

" For me, the ultimate synonym for relaxation: facials!”

I try to give myself time to rest, to enjoy the beautiful light in which I now live, near Nice. I love the freedom my job offers me and the enriching encounters I can have for new projects.

What gives Eve momentum

“Arrive at the workshop and enjoy a large cup of mate… In a pretty cup.”

Flea markets, because all the objects are piled up and mismatched. And depending on my mood, I spot different things and imagine varied harmonies. I like spending time there.”
